Artist Statement:
As a recent art school graduate, this past year I have had to adjust the way I create. Not having access to a fully equipped ceramic studio space, I started using what was around me to inspire and create my work.
Through reemergence into nature and new explorations of the Berkshires during this time of isolation, a collection of rocks found became the spark that started this body of work. Alongside cast cylindrical concrete, these chunks of earth are complimented and contrasted. A balance of materials, textures, and forms. Not unlike a balance that needs to happen next. With this huge shift in the way we all live, a balance needs to be found again. A balance of togetherness vs distance, community vs self, isolation vs connection. Although there may be speculation and estimations, the future, as it always is, seems very uncertain. What I do know is that a new balance to life will at some point come again, as it always does.
